SCG-120 PAL/NTSC Genlock Broadcast Encoder The SCG-120D Dual Standard Broadcast Encoder is switchable between PAL and NTSC coding and is designed for use in graphics and other applications where the signal must be correctly timed. The SCG-120D and its PAL (SCG-120P) and NTSC (SCG-120N) variants offer cost-effective solutions in single and multi-standard systems. A comprehensive selection of inputs and outputs give optimum flexibility. Based on Eurocard modules, the SCG-120 is normally supplied in a 19" 1U rackframe. |

There are inputs for both RGB and YPrPb component video with three composite, two YC and one YPrPb component video outputs, plus blanking and syncs. The SCG-120 has a built-in colour bar generator for composite and component outputs. The input signals are blanked to allow the correct encoding of signals such as RGsB (syncs on green). I and Q matrixing is used in NTSC encoding, and the correct Sc-H relationship is maintained both when the SCG-120 is free-running and when it is externally genlocked. The internal SPG genlocks to composite PAL or NTSC reference signals and provides pulse outputs to drive associated equipment such as graphics workstations. The key signal is internally delayed by an active delay module to compensate for the coder's processing, so a key signal which is co-timed with the RGB/YUV input is also co-timed with the composite output signal - this saves the cost of an external delay line for downstream keying. |
