| BL-100 Safe Area Generator for all Standard and Widescreen TV & Film Formats
Features:
In an era of mixed aspect ratio video and film formats the need for both framing shots [action] and application of titles [graphics] accurately in-vision for the variety of formats is paramount. |

Further, the digital broadcasting platform supports the 16:9 television format which has led to a migration, by programming commissioners, to exploit this widescreen capability. However, the implications of playout and simulcasting to a predominantly 4:3 audience coupled with the adoption of 14:9 as a ‘halfway house’ widescreen compromise make life difficult in postproduction and MCR. In reaction to this the blue lucy cage generator displays safe areas and cut outs for all these formats. In addition the unit provides all film format cut - outs as well as 4:3 and 16:9 blanking to Rec.601 spec. and PAL blanking. This cage generator is designed for ease of installation and simplicity in operation. Applications range from a simple monitoring graticule in a simulcasting MCR to positioning of graphics or AFD indexing in postproduction. The unit accepts either SDI or component analogue Y, Cr, Cb as its video input. The Y, Cr, Cb inputs are high impedance looping and the SDI has a reclocked output. Selection between the SDI or analogue input is made by a rear mounted slide switch. Outputs are analogue Y, Cr, Cb into 75R; RGB(s) outputs are available as an option. The cages are stored in a digital frame store and are selected using one touch shadow buttons mounted on the front panel. Any combination of cages can be selected simultaneously and selections are indicated by blue [of course] LEDs mounted in the shadow switches. The cages may also be switched between white [at 500mV white level] or black for ease of identification; again selection via panel mounted shadow switch. |
