The VX-1100 range is based on a series of Eurocard modules each capable of accepting a range of inputs, processing stages and outputs, the result being a comprehensive list of broadcast audio functions. We use these modules to build our own system products such as PPM audio monitors and, being Eurocards, you can use the modules to build products of your own. Here's a list of the basic functions, which can be assembled in any combination, followed by some examples of constructed modules.

We have assembled a group of audio converters based on the VX-1100 modules, providing popular functions in a 1U rackframe. Here are some examples:

  • RX-2086 DA, 1 input to 6 outputs, balanced stereo audio, XLRs in and out.

  • RX-8210 8x1 balanced stereo audio switcher with front panel selection and XLRs in and out.

  • RX-2088B 8-channel (mono) balancing amplifier, phono sockets in and XLRs out.

  • RX-2088U 8-channel unbalancing amplifier, XLRs in and phonos out.

  • RX-2562 Balanced stereo VCA with line driver and 6 DA outputs.

  • RX-2812 Headphone amplifier (balanced stereo audio) with remote VCA gain, line driver and 6 DA outputs.

  • RX-2362 Balanced stereo mic amplifier with remote VCA gain control, line driver and 6 DA outputs.

VX-2035 Multi-Purpose Buffer Amplifier

The VX-2035 is a versatile dual-channel buffer amplifier offering convenient 4-wire interface to telecommunications equipment. It provides a low-cost, portable solution for talkback and other communications using PSTN, ISDN and cellular services, and can also serve as a stand-alone mic, headphone or buffer amplifier. Used in conjunction with a standard PSTN or ISDN telephone it offers similar capabilities to a hybrid, and is equipped with a handset socket and switching to select handset or 4-wire operation.

Battery or mains operated, it has a switchable phantom-powered mic or line level input plus both balanced line and headphone outputs. Input and output levels are adjustable, and the transmission mode can be switched between send only, receive only or full duplex.

VX-2086 Audio DA

The VX-2086 is a dual channel balanced analogue audio distribution amplifier offering excellent performance exceeding current broadcast specifications. Eurocard-based, it has an on-board rectified and regulated power supply operating from low voltage AC or DC, making it ideal for incorporation in many existing rackframes.

There are two input buffers per card, and four output drivers each with 6 resistively distributed outputs. any output driver may be linked to either input, which means that the VX-2086 can be used as a 12 output dual channel (stereo) DA, a 24 output single channel DA, or as a dual channel DA with 18 outputs on one channel and 6 on the other. The signal path is balanced throughout, with properly filtered inputs and outputs. Jumpers provide phase reversal and a choice of earthing options.

There are two models - VX-2086SX transformer-balanced, and VX-2086 electronically balanced with automatic sensing for unbalanced audio.

VX-2088 Unbalancing and Balancing Module

The VX-2088 Eurocard module supports 8 channels of balanced audio input which are output as unbalanced audio, and 8 channels of unbalanced input which is electronically balanced and output. One or other half of the card can be used as a simple balancing or unbalancing amplifier, but a complete card is a cost-effective way of unbalancing audio prior to input to a switcher (such as the VX-8500 Series) and re-balancing it after switching, saving an entire switching level.
