New - GSM Wireless Module for Matrix Portable With the GSM Wireless Module, you can broadcast quality audio from anywhere, without being tied to a phone line. This module incorporates a GSM wireless phone which is operated via the keypad of the Matrix. A new, enhanced voice algorithm boosts frequency response to 7 kHz on bit rates as low as 9600 baud. Finally, broadcasters have a suitable solution to deliver audio live from press conferences, parking lots, or nearly anywhere a phone line is not available. This module may be used in any portable Matrix. (Existing units may require upgrading.) Features and Benefits |

The Phone The heart of the GSM Wireless Module is a GSM phone. When a SIM card is inserted, the Matrix will work over GSM circuit-switched data service. Dialing functions are controlled via the Matrix keypad. The Matrix with GSM Module can also be used as a normal mobile phone. Phone Service The GSM Wireless Module requires GSM circuit-switched data service. GSM service, the longtime global standard, is rapidly spreading throughout North America. GSM networks now cover many American cities and suburban areas. (Ask your GSM carrier if circuit-switched data is available.) The Studio End The Matrix Rack is a 1U rackmount, perfect for receiving your GSM codec calls on a land line. The Matrix Rack is compatible with all earlier Comrex POTS codecs. It is also possible to use another portable Matrix or a BlueBox to receive a GSM codec call. (Upgrades to early Matrix or BlueBox may be necessary.) The Wireless Module joins a line of other accessories for the Matrix. The ISDN Module converts the Matrix into an ISDN codec, while the TelCell Module transforms the unit into a coupler/hybrid on telephone lines and most cell phones. The Matrix is the hub of the Comrex Remote Broadcast System. The Comrex POTS codec line (Matrix, Vector, BlueBox) can be used interchangeably, offering up to 15kHz frequency response on plain telephone service. All current models are also backward-compatible with the classic HotLine model. Comrex ISDN codecs (Nexus, Envoy, Matrix ISDN) support many standard protocols, plus Comrexs Turbo G.722, a lowdelay 15kHz algorithm. The world never knows what communications technology will come next, but whatever it is, the Matrix is designed to adapt. |
